I confess I’ve become an Ebayer! I also confess that it’s rather addictive – there’s clearly something ‘elemental’ about the process of selling. But what interests me mostly about Ebay is the fact that the key to success is effective communication. And that, of course, is at the heart of everything I do for every client. Whether you’re selling ideas, insurance, good news/bad news or a dilapidated sofa, the principles are the same: understand your audience; hone your key messages; use appropriate language; employ strong visuals. It’s the ‘check list’ I use when I’m presenting on behalf of organisations large and small and it’s also what I teach others when I’m coaching them how to be good communicators. Perhaps I should include selling a couple of items on Ebay in my training package!
